Company history

Budamotor Ltd. was established in 1991 as a Hungarian-Italian joint venture, focusing on importing CTS helmets and used bikes in the early days.
A new regulation of customs in the early 1990s made importing such goods neary impossible. Due to this new regulation my Italian partner in the company decided to leave the business. From that time on the company has been operating as a 100 percently Hungarian owned company. The firm had had several racing machines, I had been restoring and building oldtimer bikes for a long time, so I began producing drum brakes. In the beginning I did it for myself, but nowadays I produce them in a bigger amount, making serial production. Continuous development, new machines, involving new partners in the business, and quality assurance were the necessary results of the increase in production. When deciding what kind of brakes to produce I have always looked for types that had not been on the market. Our brakes are real hand-made brakes thanks to the way of production ? old machines, and moulding forms. Recently, besides aluminium electron has also been used for production. Each new type of brake is being tested on my own bikes, or by other drivers whom I really know and count on their opinion, feed-back. I also will count on your opinion, feed-back, and experience shared with me to make production even better.

I myself, Istvan Nyitray, was a moto-cross driver. My fellow sportsmen were Laszlo Szabo II, Gyorgy Kurucz, Janos Drapal, who raced in the world championship, and many others. In the 1990s I was a key member in organizing the Hungarian Old-timer movement. I organised the Hungarian ?hill-races? in Visegrad which were held annually between 1991 and 1996.

Nowadays, my only hobby is taking part in old-timer races. I take part mainly in the Alpe-Adria Cup races for Old-timer bikes, but I have already raced on the most famous race tracks in Europe. I had been driving several motorbikes which have all an one-cylinder, four stroke engine, and in the past 3 years I have been riding an ABSAF 500 cc bike.
Recently my son, Istvan Nyitray Jr. has joined the company focusing mainly on repairing, and servicing BMW motorbikes.
